The Book Of Mormon Tickets Details

The Book of Mormon is a critically acclaimed, Grammy-winning musical that presents the themes of religious satire, with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez, Matt Stone and Trey Parker. The latter two had already gained recognition for their contributions to the animated comedy called South Park, when they decided to co-create the music in assistance from Lopez. They then composed and wrote another successful musical Avenue Q together. The trio then took up their next project which they titled The Book of Mormon, which lampoons traditional musical productions and organized religions, thus portraying the three artists’ age-old intrigue in Mormonism through such as musical. Among regular theatergoers, The Book of Mormon tickets have become a must-have.

The idea of The Book of Mormon musical began with Parker, Stone and Lopez, when the three had written four songs which prompted them to think of a plot for such a musical. In the following years, the three often met up to further develop the story, during which time they kept on going back and forth from New York City to L.A. When Lopez made arrangements for a stage, the other two creators agreed, so that the former now encouraged the two to take the project to its next level. They then held several developmental workshops which were directed by Jason Moore, while Cheyenne Jackson played the characters. Some other characters involved in reading the script included Daniel Reichard and Benjamin Walker. Together, the whole crew began working in about twelve workshops that continued to take place for four years, which covered small performances of about thirty minutes meant to entertain friends and family, to bigger scale presentations. Large dollar amounts with approximately hundreds of thousands were spent during this time by the creators themselves, but they still remained skeptical about its progress.

In early 2008, a reading was fully staged was arranged starring Josh Glad and Walker playing the characters of Cunningham and Elders Price, respectively. This show was originally set to be directed by Moore who left it in 2010. Directors other than Moore who were offered to join the creative team, include James Lapine, till the producers decided on Casey Nicholaw. The final workshop of The Book of Mormon was set up in August 2010 in which, Nicholaw stepped on board to co-direct alongside Parker and to choreograph. The producer of the show was then chosen to be Rudin, who initially thought of staging the musical off-Broadway in the summer at the well-known New York Theater Workshop, but then decided otherwise having the show premier on Broadway. Of several hundreds of auditioning actors only twenty-eight were cast, and the production cost fell within budget at nine million dollars. Owing to the lack of finding a suitable rehearsal space the creators, along with their families had to move to NYC. It was there that the crew and cast began working on the rehearsals and re-writes for four weeks, following which the previews started. It was only six days ahead of the actual show that the producers watched the musical with its complete orchestra.

The Book of Mormon centers round two Mormon missionaries who are ordered to go to a northern Uganda village where a cruel warlord poses constant threats to the local population. The young missionaries, in all their optimism and naivety attempt to enlighten the local people with one of their scriptures called the Book of Mormon, when only one of them understands well. The duo are faced with much trouble in making a connection with the local population since the latter are more concerned with their immediate possibility of war, AIDS, poverty and famine than religion.

The Book of Mormon has been noted to have won many awards including nine Tony Awards in 2011 in the categories of Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design and Best Sound Design among several others. The same year, it also won five Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Lyrics, Outstanding Music, Outstanding Orchestration and Outstanding Director.
