Humphrey Metrodome from 1982 till 2009 and at Metropolitan Stadium from 1961 till 1981.
History of the team dates back to late 1800s, when it was founded in Kansas City. It was a Western League team at that time, and played in Kansas City from 1894 till 1901 before moving to Washington D.C. The team was renamed as Washington Nationals of Washington Senators at that time and was one of the eight original teams that comprised American League. They played in Washington D.C. till 1960 and then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota as Major League Baseball granted the city an expansion team. This move proved to be a good omen for the team, as it opened new horizons of success over the coming years.
The team kept its original TC logo representing Twin Cities on their shirts for a long time, along with Minnie & Paul representing Minneapolis and St. Paul. An influx of talented players for Minnesota Twins was seen in 1961, when Bob Allison, Zoilo Versalles, Camilo Pascual, Killebrew, Jim Kaat, Lenny Green and Earl Battery were included in the team. The team won a total of 91 games in that season that was a record for the team since 1933. The team also qualified and participated in the World Series title and American League Championship in the upcoming seasons.
It was in 1970s that the team had some financial troubles, and owner Calvin Griffith had to trade some good players to alleviate the burdens. The players that had to leave at that time included Larry Hisle and Lyman Bostock. The team saw many ups and downs through its journey through time, and was sold from one owner to another owing to financial problems. With the passage of time, the team matured as a professionally acclaimed identity and a tough competitor for any opposition.
The previous home of Minnesota Twins, Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome was purpose built for the game of baseball and this fact in recent years was used against the team. The team faced a threat of relocation and contraction as the revenue generated at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome was insufficient to meet the requirements, but ever since they have moved to Target Field, their problems seem to be sorted.
